Volunteer
"“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
–Anne Frank

We invite you to participate in our PSO community by signing up to volunteer after your background check has been approved. Every volunteer must have an approved background check on file prior to volunteering on campus or chaperoning a field trip. These forms are valid July 1st - June 30th and expire each year. You must submit a new one for the 2024-25 school year.
STEP 1: The background check process is simple and takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Click here for instructions to complete it. There is a $6 processing fee. Be sure to save the email confirmation that Raptor sends you.
STEP 2: Complete our online training. There will also be an in-person training early in the school year. There will be an in-person training with the headmasters on Sept 5 at 8:15 AM, in addition to the online training.
STEP 3: All lunch room volunteers must complete the new 30-minute Civil Rights Training. Once done, please download the certificate of completion and one will also be emailed to you. You MUST email the course certificate to Cheryl Laurie, GHFH Lunch Volunteer Coordinator, at tc.laurie@satx.rr.com

STEP 5: Sign up for a volunteer slot using our SignupGenius links. You must be signed up ahead of time to serve on campus. Walk-ins are not permitted.
**These steps ensure that our volunteers are well-equipped to be efficient and safe on campus.
Lunch Room
The atmosphere is lively and fast-paced as students come in and out of the cafeteria. Lunch Room volunteers love brightening up students' days by offering a kind, encouraging word, and they also enjoy seeing their children and teachers in the cafeteria. Volunteers assist with opening lunch items, reading lunch notes from Mom and Dad, and ensuring scholars are getting the nourishment they need to make the rest of their day a success. Active Lunch Room volunteers should click here to join our GHFH Lunch Room Facebook Group to access helpful information and processes. Be sure to review our Lunch Table Operating & Maintenance Instructions here.
FALCON FLYERS (FLOATER POSITION)
Falcon Flyers are eager to help in any way that is needed during their ship. They will be cross-trained to help in the copy room, maintain the lost and found, and to run errands for the front desk staff. Training for positions is available.
Library
Volunteers' main responsibility will be assisting scholars with checking books in and out. Additionally, there are other maintenance tasks that need to be worked on during downtime such as shelving books, restocking book carts for K-2 browsing, dusting, covering books with protective plastic, repairing damaged books, etc. Instructions or training will be provided for all library tasks.
Volunteer Guidelines
Wear business casual attire (jeans are ok but NO athletic clothing such as yoga or jogging pants. Shorts must be as long as the students' handbook requires).
Sign in/out at the front desk at the start/end of your shift. You will need to present a form of identification when you sign in.
Please park in the front parking lot, and volunteers staying for pick up may back in their car for easier exiting.
