Volunteer

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." - Gandhi

Thank you to each and every one of our volunteers. We couldn't do it without YOU!

Please complete our Community Involvement Form to see the best ways to engage with our campus community. We want to help you find the best fit for you!

We invite you to participate in our PSO community by signing up to volunteer after your background check has been approved. Every volunteer must have an approved background check on file prior to volunteering on campus or chaperoning a field trip. These forms are valid July 1st - June 30th and expire each year, so volunteers who have submitted background forms in prior years still need to submit a new form for the current school year.

STEP 1: The background check process is simple and takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Click here to complete it. Be sure to save the email confirmation that Raptor sends you.

STEP 2: Once your background check is done, complete our online training

STEP 3: Visit the front desk to sign a hard copy of the FERPA Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act agreement. These steps ensure that our volunteers are well-equipped to be efficient and safe on campus.

STEP 4: Sign up for a volunteer slot using our SignupGenius links. You must be signed up ahead of time to serve on campus. Walk-ins are not permitted.

Questions?

Our Volunteer Coordinators are happy to provide answers.

Lunch Room

The atmosphere is lively and fast-paced as students come in and out of the cafeteria. Lunch Room volunteers love brightening up students' days by offering a kind, encouraging word, and they also enjoy seeing their children and teachers in the cafeteria. Volunteers assist with opening lunch items, reading lunch notes from Mom and Dad, and ensuring scholars are getting the nourishment they need to make the rest of their day a success. Click here to join our GHFH Lunch Room Facebook Group to access helpful information and processes, and be sure to review our Lunch Table Operating & Maintenance Instructions here.

Copy Room

Copy Room volunteers save teachers and staff time by making copies and putting packets together. In doing administrative tasks, you feel like a part of the school community by helping teachers get work done for the students. Assist with copying, laminating, and other teacher requests. A 2-hour minimum shift is requested.

Library

Volunteers' main responsibility will be assisting scholars with checking books in and out. Additionally, there are other maintenance tasks that need to be worked on during downtime such as shelving books, restocking book carts for K-2 browsing, dusting, covering books with protective plastic, repairing damaged books, etc. Instructions or training will be provided for all library tasks.

Front Desk

Monitor the phone, take items to classrooms, and retrieve scholars for early dismissals. Working with GHFH Lower School staff Angelica Barrera and Upper School Monica Rocha is a huge perk as a front desk volunteer. Ms. Barrera and Ms. Austin joyfully train volunteers on checking in guests, answering the phone, and assembling large packets. When there are no projects, the front desk volunteer may help return lost and found items to their grateful owners. This is the place where you witness the heartbeat of the school!

Room Parents

Much of the work of room parents comes in the form of coordinating grade-level celebrations, teacher birthdays, and a Falcon Faire booth. Room Parents have fun helping at school celebrations, being creative, and making things special for the scholars. They also come to school to assist teachers in creating bulletin boards for students to enjoy. (Please click here to review the Great Hearts Classroom and Hallway Aesthetics guide).
